NFL Draft
with RTL
Case Study
Project Overview
Position: Freelance
Role: Production Assistant
Company: Monson Media LLC
Date & Duration: April 24, 2026
Summary
I supported production on-site for the NFL Draft, a live, nationally broadcast event, assisting the crew with logistics and on-set needs under real broadcast time pressure.
Role & Responsibilities
-
Supported the production crew with equipment staging, logistics, and on-set needs throughout the event
-
Helped keep operations moving on schedule under live-broadcast time constraints
-
Assisted wherever the crew needed additional hands during setup, the live window, and breakdown
Process
-
Arrived on-site to find the RTL set already fully built and running; the day centered on supporting the crew rather than building anything from scratch
-
Spent most of the day handling equipment and food runs to keep the crew fueled and focused during a long live event day
-
At wrap, shifted into helping break down and pack out equipment
-
Worked alongside a German production crew (RTL), which gave me a chance to use my German in a real, professional setting. Conversation was limited since I'm not yet fluent, but it was a genuinely useful test of what I'd actually learned
Reflection
This job reinforced that not every valuable production role involves being hands-on with a camera; sometimes the most useful thing you can do is keep the people who are running the show fed, equipped, and able to focus. It was also a good real-world check on my German: conversational enough to connect with the crew, but a clear reminder of how much more fluency work I still have ahead of me.
