New Heights Podcast
& Live Show

Case Study

Project Overview

Position: Freelance
Role: Production Assistant
Company: Monson Media LLC
Date & Duration: 2023

Summary

I supported production across multiple New Heights shoots in different settings: a standard location shoot at Travis Kelce's home in North Kansas City, a segment filmed at Arrowhead Stadium, and the live show at the Music Hall downtown, adapting to a different production environment each time.

Context & Problem

Unlike other shoots, New Heights isn't one consistent format; it moves between an intimate at home interview setting, a stadium environment, and a full live theater production. Supporting production across all three meant adjusting to a different scale and pace each time, rather than settling into one repeatable routine.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Supported general PA duties at the North KC location: shoot equipment moves, food runs, and helping wherever needed

  • Supported the earlier stadium segment ahead of the live show at Arrowhead

  • Worked the live show production at the Music Hall downtown

Process

  • The North KC shoot at Travis Kelce's home ran like standard PA work, similar to Bargain Mansions moving equipment, handling food runs, and filling in wherever the crew needed support

  • The Arrowhead Stadium segment shot earlier in the day, ahead of the live show

  • On that shoot, I arrived at the wrong call time by mistake; the crew was glad to have the extra help regardless, and it turned into an unexpected upside: I got to briefly meet and shake hands with Andy Reid

  • The live show at the Music Hall was a different production scale entirely: a full live theater event rather than a standard location shoot

Reflection

Working New Heights across three very different settings a home, a stadium, and a live theater reinforced how much a PA has to adapt to the environment rather than rely on one fixed routine. The call time mix up at the stadium was a genuine mistake, and it's made me more careful about double checking details like that ahead of time, but it also turned into one of the more memorable moments of the job, which was a good reminder that even a slip-up can turn out fine if you show up ready to help regardless.
