Summary
I worked as a Production Assistant with RTL Germany during the NFL Draft hosted in Kansas City, supporting an international broadcast team covering one of the NFL’s most high-profile events. My role involved handling logistics, coordinating with crew, and ensuring the smooth execution of live coverage.

Context & Problem

The NFL Draft is a globally recognized event with massive broadcast demands. RTL Germany required reliable local crew support to execute their live international coverage in Kansas City. The challenge was ensuring that all equipment, logistics, and on-the-ground needs were managed efficiently so the broadcast team could focus on delivering a flawless live show.

Role & Responsibilities

• Assisted with equipment setup, transport, and organization for live broadcast operations.

• Supported producers, camera operators, and technical staff with on-site needs.

• Acted as a liaison between the German broadcast crew and local venue staff.

• Managed fast-paced tasks in a high-pressure, live-event environment.

Process

• Coordinated with RTL Germany’s production team to anticipate and prioritize logistical needs.

• Assisted with setup of staging, cameras, and broadcast gear for multiple shooting locations.

• Provided hands-on support throughout the event, adapting quickly to evolving demands.

• Ensured the crew had everything they needed to stay on schedule and in sync with the live broadcast timeline.

Reflection

Working on the NFL Draft taught me how to excel under intense live-event pressure while collaborating with an international broadcast team. It strengthened my adaptability, communication skills, and understanding of the behind-the-scenes operations required for global sports coverage.
