Summary
I supported the release of Tech N9ne’s album 5816 Forest by creating social-first promotional content, filming behind-the-scenes mini-docs, and documenting Tech N9ne’s creative process as he wrote and recorded multiple songs for the album while on tour.

 

Context & Problem

Tech N9ne’s 5816 Forest was both a highly anticipated album and a unique creative opportunity, with portions of the project being written and recorded while touring as support for Falling in Reverse. Strange Music needed a steady stream of promotional and behind-the-scenes content that captured not only the music but the making of the music on the road, offering fans a rare inside look at Tech N9ne’s artistry.

 

Role & Responsibilities

  • Shot and edited social-first video content tailored for Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook.

  • Filmed behind-the-scenes sessions of Tech N9ne writing, recording, and collaborating on songs while traveling.

  • Captured live performance footage and backstage content to blend the touring and recording narratives.

  • Produced timely edits to feed into the album’s marketing pipeline and social media campaigns.

 

Process

  • Coordinated with Tech N9ne and his team to identify key creative moments to document.

  • Filmed in diverse environments (tour buses, studios on the road, backstage, and “off-day” excursions).

  • Edited social-first deliverables optimized for vertical formats and quick turnaround.

  • Balanced ongoing tour content (shows, meet & greets) with deeper storytelling of the album’s creative development.

Reflection

This project showcased my ability to capture the creative process in real time under challenging conditions, from tour buses to late-night recording sessions. It taught me how to balance fast-turnaround social content with long-form documentary storytelling — all while traveling and keeping pace with a high-energy tour.
